The Hideaway Club was the longest running club night in the UK playing classic late fifties / early sixties soul and R&B sounds on original black vinyl.

Based in City Centre Manchester, The Hideaway opened on 27th February 1999. Once a month it played its unique blend of classic mod club tunes and new discoveries from the early 60s to an always receptive dancefloor.

Saturday 26th March 2011 saw the last Hideaway Club night in its monthly format.

The right hand panel on this page explains the logic behind the decision.

The door has been left open for something "Hideaway" to happen in the future and the Manchester Modweekender in July 2011 is one of those opportunities.

Please keep an eye on this site for any future announcements and always check The Hideaway On Tour page to see if any of the club's DJs are guesting in a town near to you.

THE HIDEAWAY CLUB
Feb 1999 - March 2011

END OF AN ERA

After 12 years, 133 monthly club nights and 3 venues , The Hideaway Club closed in its current format following our March night. Bowing to a combination of the pressures of outside life, old age and babies we feel that we have served our time in the frontline. We helped reset the musical agenda and are proud in the knowledge that we have left the Mod and Rare Soul Scenes a little healthier than before we started The Hideaway and there are now regular R&B club nights in most major cities in the UK and Europe. As the club has recently undergone something of a renaissance, with the last two years seeing record attendances, we thought it only right to finish at the top and on a high.

The Hideaway Club will not disappear and, after we have reflected on our decision, we hope to announce a future format for the continuation of the club over the coming years. It goes without saying that The Hideaway Club will continue to be an integral part of this year’s Modchester Weekender over the weekend of 29th and 30th July 2011.
